Public Service Facilities

BrightFarm Systems designs rooftop greenhouses for a range of public service facilities from residential care homes to homeless support centers. In addition to serving as high efficiency food production facilities, rooftop farms located on hospitals, prisons, and community centers, also offer significant public service benefits.

In these facilities, public service providers bring together assured food supply with the therapeutic and job training benefits derived from operating a high performance horticultural facility.

Gardening and horticulture have a proven track record of reducing stress, fear and anger; increasing creativity; encourage superior dietary choices; and improving social skills and self-esteem. The practice of ‘Horticultural Therapy’ has grown in popularity, and now plays an established role in physical and mental rehabilitation programs.

A state of the art hydroponic greenhouse can also be used as a powerful job training facility. The labor needs of the facility can be met through individuals participating in purpose designed on-the-job training schemes. Skills gained in the greenhouse prepare participants for positions across the food production and distribution industries.

SCALE: 200 m2 (~2000 ft2) will provide fresh vegetables for about one hundred people.
